Part 1 · Week 2: The Fear of the Lord (Beginning of Wisdom)
Day 12 of 365
"The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, turning a person from the snares of death." - Proverbs 14:27 (NIV)
As a father to six, you are the primary source of wisdom and guidance in their lives. That's a heavy responsibility. The world sets countless "snares of death" for our kids—subtle and not-so-subtle traps that can lead them away from a life of purpose and faith. This verse promises that the fear of the Lord in your own life becomes a "fountain of life" for your family. When your kids see you making decisions based on reverence for God, when they see your integrity, your humility, and your trust in Him, you are giving them a living example of how to avoid those snares. Your wisdom, grounded in God, becomes a life-giving source for them, more valuable than any inheritance you could leave.
Father, let my life be a fountain of life for my children. May my reverence for you overflow into my parenting, guiding them in your truth and protecting them from the snares of the world. Give me the wisdom to lead them well. Amen.
At dinner tonight, share a short story with your family about a time you had to make a hard decision and how your faith helped you choose the right path.
